A career pathway most people never consider

Don't start over. Pivot smarter.

You may already have more of the experience than you think. Clinical Pivot shows you where it fits, and how to compete for it.

  • No clinical research experience required
  • No healthcare background required

Elevate: next live cohort starts October 10, 2026. Solo: rolling admission, start anytime.

Start here

You may already have more relevant experience than you think.

Clinical trials run on projects, timelines, documentation and people. Most professionals have done at least half of that already.

The gap is usually language, not ability.

  • Projects
  • Operations
  • Communication
  • Quality
  • Data
  • Documentation
  • Timelines
  • People

Don't start over. Learn how your experience translates.

The premise

You already do the work. You are only missing the language.

The long view

Your first role is not the destination.

Clinical research is a global industry. The work moves from supporting one study, to overseeing sites, to running trials, to leading operations.

Scope grows. So does responsibility.

  • A global industry

Trials run across every major market, and the standards travel with them.

  • A defined progression

Not a flat job title. Each rung widens what you are responsible for.

  • Projects, people, decisions

The work is coordination and judgment, not one narrow technical task.

  • Pharma, biotech and CROs

Three kinds of employer, with different entry points into the same field.

  • Remote and hybrid roles exist

Depending on the function and the employer. Others are site-based.

  • A regulated field

The bar to entry is real, which keeps the candidate pool smaller than most.

With experience, some clinical research career paths progress into six-figure management and leadership roles.

Compensation and work arrangements vary by employer, location and experience. Clinical Pivot does not guarantee employment, a specific title or a salary.

Career pathways

Where the career can grow.

Clinical research is a ladder, not a single door. This is the shape of it — and people enter at different rungs.

  1. Clinical Trial / Study Support

Clinical Trial Assistant · Study Coordinator · Clinical Operations Support

  2. Clinical Research Associate

  3. Senior CRA / Lead CRA

  4. Clinical Trial Manager

  5. Clinical Project Manager

  6. Clinical Operations Leadership

  1. CRA

    Works closest to investigational sites.

Monitoring · Source and data · Safety · Protocol compliance · Site relationships

“What is happening at this site?”

  2. CTM

Looks across several sites and the CRA team.

Site performance · Enrollment · Monitoring oversight · Risk · Issue escalation

“Is this happening at one site, or across several?”

  3. CPM

    Looks at broader study delivery.

    Timeline · Milestones · Vendors · Resources · Budget · Sponsor communication

“What does this mean for the whole study?”

People may enter this pathway at different points depending on their experience, qualifications and employer requirements.

One mentor

Global trials. Clinical operations.
Taught live.

Seven weeks, live, teaching how trials are actually run, how to position the experience you already have, and how to be ready when the role appears.

Capped at 15 seats.

Dr. Funkie Tee

  • PharmD
  • MPH
  • MBA
  • PMP

More than two decades across clinical research, public health and pharmacy.

Clinical trial management, clinical operations, and project and program leadership inside pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical organisations, with medical affairs as further breadth.

Still active in the industry, so the guidance reflects how hiring and delivery actually work today.

  • Live teaching

Every session, in real time. Questions get answered in the room.

  • Direct resume and interview guidance

Your résumé/CV is written for you. Interview answers are practised live.

  • 15 seats

Small enough that your progress is visible.

How it works

Learn it. Try it. Build it.
Then say it out loud.

Nothing stays theoretical.

01

Learn

Understand the work.

02

Practice

Solve realistic scenarios.

03

Build

Create practical work products.

04

Explain it

Talk about your work confidently.

The program journey

7 weeks, from outsider to interview-ready.

Each week, what you will be able to do by the end of it.

Select a week to see the detail.

  1. 01Understand the industry
  2. 02Understand the work
  3. 03Position your experience
  4. 04Prepare to interview
  5. 05Pursue opportunities

Weeks 1 to 6 build the clinical research understanding. Week 7 is the career launchpad — but resume positioning and interview preparation start in week 1 and run alongside the teaching, and the six months of accountability support carry stage five past the final session.

Part I · Foundations

Week 1 — How Clinical Trials Actually Work

Learn how a trial is structured and who owns what.

BuildYour own working reference for the industry, built the way you think.

Why it mattersYou stop guessing which roles you could actually do.

How AI is used this week

Dense regulatory documents are where beginners drown and managers stay calm. You learn to put AI in front of them so you arrive at the meeting already understanding what matters.

Part II · Setting a Study Up

Week 2 — Reading a Study Before It Starts

Learn how to read a protocol and spot operational risk.

BuildA feasibility assessment you can show and talk through.

Why it mattersThis is the thinking that separates a coordinator from a manager.

How AI is used this week

This is where AI changes what one person can do. You learn to pressure-test a study design in an afternoon — the kind of analysis that used to need a team, and the kind that gets you noticed.

Part II · Setting a Study Up

Week 3 — Getting a Study Approved and Open

Learn what has to happen before a site sees a single participant.

BuildA complete, reviewed start-up pack.

Why it mattersStart-up is where a lot of career changers get their first role.

How AI is used this week

You learn to use AI to review consent documents and compare sites in a fraction of the usual time, then check its work — because the checking is the part employers pay for.

Part III · Running a Study

Week 4 — Finding and Keeping Participants

Learn how recruitment and retention are planned, and rescued.

BuildA recruitment and retention plan for a live study.

Why it mattersEnrolment performance is the first question in most trial-management interviews.

How AI is used this week

AI can read through unstructured health records and surface who might be eligible in minutes. You learn to direct that work and interpret it — which is a manager’s job, not an assistant’s.

Part III · Running a Study

Week 5 — Watching the Study, Keeping People Safe

Learn how monitoring, safety and data quality connect.

BuildA full monitoring write-up with your risk findings.

Why it mattersThis is the day-to-day of CRA and CTM work.

How AI is used this week

You learn how AI spots patterns across many sites that a person reading one report would miss — the shift from checking a site to overseeing a portfolio, which is exactly the shift into management.

Part IV · Closing a Study

Week 6 — Closing a Study Cleanly

Learn what a clean close-out requires, and why it gets audited.

BuildA reconciled, inspection-ready file.

Why it mattersProject managers are judged on how studies end, not how they start.

How AI is used this week

AI shortens the grind of finding gaps and loose ends, so you spend your attention on the judgment calls. Knowing which is which is what makes someone senior.

Career Launchpad

Week 7 — Getting Hired

Learn how to position your background and answer scenario questions.

BuildYour resume, your story, and an answer bank you keep.

Why it mattersYou leave with a plan, not a certificate.

How AI is used this week

You practise against an AI interviewer playing a CRO lead, and you learn to explain your own AI workflow to a hiring manager — which almost no other candidate can do.

Training work products

You won't just learn it.
You'll build it.

Across the 7 weeks you produce a set of practical documents and trackers — the same kinds of artifacts clinical research teams work from every day.

Printed project plans, trackers and performance dashboards laid out on a desk
Structured, practical documents — the kind clinical teams work from every day.
  • Site Feasibility Tracker
  • Study Start-Up Tracker
  • Delegation of Authority Log
  • Informed Consent Form Review
  • Monitoring Checklist
  • Query Tracker
  • Site Performance Dashboard
  • Risk & Issue Log
  • Monitoring Visit Report
  • Study Project Plan
  • Sponsor / Leadership Update
  • Reusable AI Workflows

These are training work products built during the program for learning and portfolio purposes. They are not real sponsor deliverables and are not presented as paid work experience.

How AI fits

Use AI without outsourcing your judgment.

AI runs through the program, not as a bonus module. You use it to read dense material faster, draft work products, spot patterns and practise interviews.

AI can accelerate the work. You still need to know whether the answer is right.

01

Learn

Read faster, and understand what you are looking at.

02

Build

Draft the work product, then make it yours.

03

Check

Test your thinking against what the protocol actually says.

04

Improve

Tighten the workflow so the next one takes less time.

After 30 days, Elevate is the full price. Elevate is capped at 15 seats per cohort, so an upgrade depends on a seat being available.

No. Access is immediate and fully digital, so all sales are final.
