Who this is for

This cohort is built for career changers.

If you recognise yourself in any of these, this cohort was designed with you in mind.

You're outside the industry looking in

You keep seeing clinical research roles you find interesting and cannot tell whether you are allowed to apply.

You've been told you need a healthcare degree

You do not. Clinical research teams are built from many professions, and this program shows you which parts of yours count.

You're re-entering the workforce

After a career break, a relocation or a redundancy, and you want a field with a real progression ladder.

You already work near clinical research

In a site, a lab, a clinic or an administrative role, and you want to understand the wider study and move up.

You have applied and heard nothing

Your experience is real but your resume does not speak the language a clinical research hiring manager reads for.

You want to use AI properly

Not as a gimmick, but as part of how you do clinical research work and run your job search.

The entry requirement

No healthcare background required.

Clinical research teams need more than medical knowledge. They need people who understand projects, operations, quality, data, documentation and timelines.

You may already have transferable experience. Clinical Pivot teaches you how it fits inside clinical research.

  • No clinical research experience required
  • No healthcare background required

Skill transposition

What that looks like in practice.

Week 7 does this for your own background, line by line. These are conversions participants have already made.

Accounting

Budget balancing, reconciliation, audit trails

In clinical research

Site budget management, query reconciliation, inspection-ready records

Engineering

Participant recruitment, consent conversations, retention

Education

Explaining difficult material so people retain it

In clinical research

Site training, investigator onboarding, protocol walkthroughs

A career break

Coordinating people, schedules and logistics under pressure

In clinical research

Trial coordination, timeline management, chasing what is outstanding

The program journey

7 weeks, from outsider to interview-ready.

Each week, what you will be able to do by the end of it — and where AI turns work that used to need a whole team into something one person can lead.

Select a week to see the detail.

Part I · Foundations

Week 1 — How Clinical Trials Actually Work

Learn how a trial is structured and who owns what.

BuildYour own working reference for the industry, built the way you think.

Why it mattersYou stop guessing which roles you could actually do.

How AI is used this week

Dense regulatory documents are where beginners drown and managers stay calm. You learn to put AI in front of them so you arrive at the meeting already understanding what matters.

Part II · Setting a Study Up

Week 2 — Reading a Study Before It Starts

Learn how to read a protocol and spot operational risk.

BuildA feasibility assessment you can show and talk through.

Why it mattersThis is the thinking that separates a coordinator from a manager.

How AI is used this week

This is where AI changes what one person can do. You learn to pressure-test a study design in an afternoon — the kind of analysis that used to need a team, and the kind that gets you noticed.

Part II · Setting a Study Up

Week 3 — Getting a Study Approved and Open

Learn what has to happen before a site sees a single participant.

BuildA complete, reviewed start-up pack.

Why it mattersStart-up is where a lot of career changers get their first role.

How AI is used this week

You learn to use AI to review consent documents and compare sites in a fraction of the usual time, then check its work — because the checking is the part employers pay for.

Part III · Running a Study

Week 4 — Finding and Keeping Participants

Learn how recruitment and retention are planned, and rescued.

BuildA recruitment and retention plan for a live study.

Why it mattersEnrolment performance is the first question in most trial-management interviews.

How AI is used this week

AI can read through unstructured health records and surface who might be eligible in minutes. You learn to direct that work and interpret it — which is a manager’s job, not an assistant’s.

Part III · Running a Study

Week 5 — Watching the Study, Keeping People Safe

Learn how monitoring, safety and data quality connect.

BuildA full monitoring write-up with your risk findings.

Why it mattersThis is the day-to-day of CRA and CTM work.

How AI is used this week

You learn how AI spots patterns across many sites that a person reading one report would miss — the shift from checking a site to overseeing a portfolio, which is exactly the shift into management.

Part IV · Closing a Study

Week 6 — Closing a Study Cleanly

Learn what a clean close-out requires, and why it gets audited.

BuildA reconciled, inspection-ready file.

Why it mattersProject managers are judged on how studies end, not how they start.

How AI is used this week

AI shortens the grind of finding gaps and loose ends, so you spend your attention on the judgment calls. Knowing which is which is what makes someone senior.

Career Launchpad

Week 7 — Getting Hired

Learn how to position your background and answer scenario questions.

BuildYour resume, your story, and an answer bank you keep.

Why it mattersYou leave with a plan, not a certificate.

How AI is used this week

You practise against an AI interviewer playing a CRO lead, and you learn to explain your own AI workflow to a hiring manager — which almost no other candidate can do.

Training work products

You won't just learn it.
You'll build it.

Across the 7 weeks you produce a set of practical documents and trackers — the same kinds of artifacts clinical research teams work from every day.

Printed project plans, trackers and performance dashboards laid out on a desk
Structured, practical documents — the kind clinical teams work from every day.
  • Site Feasibility Tracker
  • Study Start-Up Tracker
  • Delegation of Authority Log
  • Informed Consent Form Review
  • Monitoring Checklist
  • Query Tracker
  • Site Performance Dashboard
  • Risk & Issue Log
  • Monitoring Visit Report
  • Study Project Plan
  • Sponsor / Leadership Update
  • Reusable AI Workflows

These are training work products built during the program for learning and portfolio purposes. They are not real sponsor deliverables and are not presented as paid work experience.

AI + clinical research

AI is built into how you learn.

AI runs through the whole program, not one bonus module. You use it the way a working clinical research professional would — to get to a first draft faster, then to check it.

01

Learn

Understand the clinical research task well enough to judge an answer.

02

Build

Use AI to draft the tracker, the summary, the plan or the update.

03

Check

Test it against the protocol, the guidance and what the study actually requires.

04

Improve

Correct what is wrong and keep the workflow for next time.

Read faster than anyone expects

Clinical research runs on long, dense documents. You learn to get through them and arrive at the meeting already knowing what matters — which is how a manager shows up.

See across a whole study

Spotting a pattern across many sites is what separates overseeing a portfolio from checking one site. AI makes that possible for one person. Judging what it found is you.

Walk into the interview ready

You rehearse with an AI interviewer playing a CRO lead until the answers are yours, then learn to explain how you work with AI — something almost no other candidate can do.

The tech edge

Most candidates cannot explain how they use AI. You will be able to.

Knowing the regulations is the entry ticket. Showing a hiring manager how you use AI to shorten a start-up timeline — without letting it make the judgment calls — is what separates two candidates with the same certificate.

AI can help create the first draft. You still need to know whether the answer is right.

The long view

Your first role is not the destination.

Clinical research is a global industry. The work moves from supporting one study, to overseeing sites, to running trials, to leading operations.

Scope grows. So does responsibility.

  • A global industry

Trials run across every major market, and the standards travel with them.

  • A defined progression

Not a flat job title. Each rung widens what you are responsible for.

  • Projects, people, decisions

The work is coordination and judgment, not one narrow technical task.

  • Pharma, biotech and CROs

Three kinds of employer, with different entry points into the same field.

  • Remote and hybrid roles exist

Depending on the function and the employer. Others are site-based.

  • A regulated field

The bar to entry is real, which keeps the candidate pool smaller than most.

With experience, some clinical research career paths progress into six-figure management and leadership roles.

Compensation and work arrangements vary by employer, location and experience. Clinical Pivot does not guarantee employment, a specific title or a salary.

Career pathways

Where the career can grow.

Clinical research is a ladder, not a single door. This is the shape of it — and people enter at different rungs.

  1. Clinical Trial / Study Support

Clinical Trial Assistant · Study Coordinator · Clinical Operations Support

  2. Clinical Research Associate

  3. Senior CRA / Lead CRA

  4. Clinical Trial Manager

  5. Clinical Project Manager

  6. Clinical Operations Leadership

People may enter this pathway at different points depending on their experience, qualifications and employer requirements.

How the 7 weeks work

Every Saturday, the same rhythm.

Sessions run live on Saturdays at 5 PM MST / 6 PM CST / 7 PM EST. 1 module per week, taught in real time, with work to do between sessions.

Before the session

Come with questions

Short preparation so the live time is spent on the hard parts, not the definitions.

In the session

Learn and practice live

The concept, then a realistic clinical-trial scenario worked through together.

After the session

Build the work product

You produce the tracker, log, checklist or plan — with AI, then checked properly.

Throughout

1:1 access to your mentor

Ask your questions and get them answered, and have your resume and interview preparation worked on with you.

After the live training

The training is 7 weeks.
The support continues for 6 months.

The live program gives you the clinical research foundation, the practical tools and the career preparation. The accountability period is what keeps you moving after the teaching ends — which is usually where a career transition actually stalls.

Job-search accountability

Staying consistent with the transition plan you built during the program.

Application tracking

Keeping sight of what you have applied for, and what came back.

Interview-practice accountability

Continuing to rehearse answers as real interviews come up.

Progress check-ins

Regular points to look honestly at what is working and what is not.

Peer accountability

The rest of your cohort, going through the same search at the same time.

Staying consistent

The part nobody talks about, and the part that decides most outcomes.

This is accountability support, not job placement — Clinical Pivot does not place participants into roles or guarantee employment.

Testimonials

Different careers.
The same pivot.

Education. Engineering. Language arts. Accounting. Psychology. Years at home. What they shared was a willingness to learn how clinical research works — and how their own experience could translate.

Before you enroll.

Yes. You can enquire anytime. Classes follow scheduled cohort dates, and we will confirm the available options.

Late entry may be considered where suitable catch-up arrangements and places are available.

Contact us before paying so we can confirm whether joining the current cohort is appropriate.

Joining late does not restart the live cohort. Any missed learning and the remaining live schedule must be agreed before you enrol.

Catch-up arrangements are not fixed. If late entry is being considered, we will discuss exactly what catching up would involve, and agree it with you, before anything is approved.

You can still enquire about the next available start. Future dates will be shared when they are confirmed.
